Who We Are |
We are volunteers from the entire Lewes Public Library user area who gather together to support the activities of the Friends of the Lewes Public Library and its mission to promote knowledge of the library’s functions, services and resources, and to raise funds to support library needs.

Our History |
The Friends of the Lewes Public Library was formally established in 1981 through the enthusiastic efforts of Mrs. Florence C. Coltman. Mrs. Coltman, founder of the Friends of the Lewes Public library, was the driving force behind the creation of this organization and the construction of the Adams Avenue Library building in 1988. Her cheerful demeanor and dedicated efforts are remembered through the annual presentation of the Florence C. Coltman award.
